Choosing the right spot for your photo session makes all the difference! As a Portland photographer, I’ve spent lots of time exploring the area to find those perfect, light-filled, natural backdrops. Whether you’re looking for romantic, woodsy, floral, or wide open views—these five locations are my go-to favorites for sessions with couples, families, and mamas-to-be.
Jenkins Estate – Beaverton
This spot is a dream in the spring. The blooms are everywhere—you’ll find cherry blossoms, camellias, rhododendrons, and more. It has that peaceful garden feel without being too “manicured,” and the filtered light through the trees is just beautiful.
Cooper Mountain Nature Park – Aloha
This one is perfect year-round, but especially pretty in late summer and early fall. Think golden grasses, winding paths, and views that stretch out over the hills. It’s great for families with little kids since the trails are easy to walk, and there’s lots of variety for different photo vibes.
Peninsula Park Rose Garden – North Portland
If you love flowers and vintage charm, this is the one. Rows and rows of roses, cute fountains, brick paths—it’s like stepping into a storybook. It’s best in late spring through summer when the roses are blooming. Morning light here is my favorite.
Camassia Natural Area – West Linn
This one feels like a hidden gem! In spring, the wildflowers (especially the camas lilies) are incredible, and the rock formations and winding trails give your photos a natural, organic feel. It’s ideal for adventurous couples or families who don’t mind a little off-the-beaten-path vibe. The whole area feels peaceful and untouched.
Powell Butte Nature Park – SE Portland
This one is underrated but so stunning. It has open meadows, mountain views, and even some forested areas. Sunset here is unreal. It’s also dog-friendly and has wide trails that make it easy to move around.
