Golden Hour Couples Session at Camassia Nature Preserve

There’s something magical about golden hour—the way the light hits just right, the glow on the skin, the warmth it adds to the moment. Zach and Lindsey’s couples session at Camassia Nature Preserve was all of that and more.

I put out a model call because I’m moving into couples and wedding photography, and I wanted to start building a portfolio that reflects that direction. Camassia was high on my list—the views are beautiful, and in the spring, the wildflowers usually put on a show. While the blooms weren’t quite in full swing yet, we made the most of it. Zach even pointed out a patch of yellow Oregon grape flowers, and we used what nature gave us to frame some of the sweetest moments.

Zach and Lindsey came ready to just have fun. From the start, they were laughing, teasing, and totally in their own little world—which is exactly what I hope for in every session.

Before we started, Lindsey told me they usually feel awkward in front of the camera. But after our shoot, she said:

“We literally had so much fun with you and you made us feel so comfortable.”

That’s everything to me.

Instead of stiff poses, I give gentle prompts—like asking one partner to say something in a ridiculous voice (you’d be surprised how well that works). And yes, I’m also the ultimate hype gal. If you don’t hear at least one “oh my GOSH you’re so cute!!” during your session with me, something’s off.

Those silly, joy-filled moments? That’s where the magic is.

This session was full of connection, movement, and the kind of laughter that you can’t fake—and it reminded me why I’m so drawn to photographing couples. It’s not just about capturing how you look. It’s about showing how you feel about each other.
